The Kia Syros has been unveiled ahead of its launch in January 2025, and it enters a crowded and fierce sub-4-metre segment. However, it offers a more premium package when compared to other subcompact SUVs. In the same segment, there are plenty of well-packaged SUVs and one such SUV is the Tata Nexon. In this article, we compare the specifications of the Syros with those of the Nexon, which is arguably one of the most popular subcompact SUVs in India.
Let the match begin!
Being subcompact SUVs, both Syros and Nexon fall in the sub-4-metre segment. However, they differ in other parameters such as width, height, wheelbase and boot space. Here is a proper look at what separates the two in terms of size:

Width |

Height |

1620 mm |
Wheelbase |
2550 mm (+52 mm) |
2498 mm |
Boot space |
465 litres (+83 litres) |
382 litres |
The Syros and Nexon shake hands when you compare their lengths. The Syros is negligibly wider but is significantly taller and this will lead to more headroom inside the cabin. Its greater wheelbase also means that it has a more spacious cabin.
Comparing their boot spaces, the Nexon is left behind by a huge margin, and kudos to Kia for providing ample boot space that is comparable with SUVs of the segment above.

As seen in the table above, the Syros clearly prevails when you compare its features with the Nexon. That being said, the Nexon is also a very well-equipped SUV and covers all the necessary features while also offering premium niceties. However, extra features like ADAS, electronic parking brake, multi-colour ambient lighting, powered seats, rear seat ventilation and larger displays give the Syros a very evident edge over the Nexon.

Both SUVs come with a petrol and diesel engine option, but it is the Nexon which gets the larger petrol engine. Power and torque figures of both petrol and diesel engines are nearly identical, but how would they fare on the road? Well, stay tuned for that as we will be bringing out a real-world comparison of the two in the near future!
The Nexon comes with more gearbox options, giving you a wider range of options to choose from, especially if you are opting for the turbo-petrol variant.
The Tata Nexon’s prices start from Rs 7.99 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 15.8 lakh (ex-showroom). The Syros’ prices on the other hand will be revealed in January 2025. Well, nothing comes for free and the fact that the Syros offers a more premium package overall, we expect it to be priced at a premium over the Nexon. Its expected prices should range from Rs 9.7 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Kia Syros and Tata Nexon lock horns with SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Citroen Basalt, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and Kia Sonet.
With the Syros’ premium pricing, we expect it to also compete with mid-spec variants of compact SUVs like the Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Tata Curvv.
