The Centennial is a tribute to Hero’s founder, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, on his 101st birthday
The bike is based on the Hero Karizma 210, and will have only 100 units
Its changes include carbon fibre panels, adjustable suspension, new wheels, and an Akrapovic exhaust
It’s a road-legal bike despite all the mods
Hero MotoCorp had showcased a Karizma XMR 210-based custom bike a while ago at the Hero World 2024, and has now made 100 units of it to celebrate the 101st birthday of its Founder Chairman, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal. These 100 bikes will be auctioned by Hero to its employees, associates, business partners, and stakeholders. However, you could win one for yourself.
But first, let’s take a look at all the changes that make ‘The Centennial’ so different from the Karizma XMR 210. It gets a carbon-fibre bikini fairing with the same LED headlight. The pillion seat has been replaced with a carbon-fibre cover. The handlebar, handlebar mounts, triple clamps, and rear-set foot pegs are made of machined and anodised aluminium. The side panels are also made of machined aluminium, and feature the serial number of the bike.
Equipment updates include a 43mm inverted fork with adjustable damping, a fully-adjustable Wilbers gas-charged monoshock, a lightweight aluminium swingarm, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. There’s a carbon-fibre and titanium Akrapovic end-can for the exhaust. Hero tells us the bike is road-legal despite all the changes. This means the exhaust will have the catalytic converters, and a baffle in the end-can to keep the sound level in check. Its engine remains the same: a 210cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder that makes 25.5PS & 20.4Nm.
That said, with all the changes, The Centennial now weighs 158kg (kerb), which is a drop of 5.5kg over the standard Karizma’s kerb weight. All of which should increase the fun quotient of the bike.
As a part of the celebrations, 100 customers could get 100 percent cashback on the purchase of a new Hero bike or scooter. Apart from that, Hero has launched a marketing campaign called ‘My Hero, My Story', wherein it invites the customers to submit their stories with the brand and its two-wheelers, and the top entries will win one Centennial. The auction for The Centennial will be by invitation only. The deliveries to the successful bidders and the winners will begin in September 2024. Hero MotoCorp has stated that the proceeds from the auction will be used for CSR (corporate social responsibilities) activities.
