First Batch Of Export-spec Made-in-India Skoda Kushaq Gets Shipped

• The export program commenced back in 2011 with the VW Vento.

• Kushaq becomes the third made-in-India export model based on the MQB-A0-IN platform.

• First shipment is headed towards the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) countries.

• Skoda recorded a 17% year-on-year sales growth compared to September 2021.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Skoda commenced the production of the left-hand drive Kushaq for exports to markets abroad. And it looks like the marque has already completed the first batch as a shipment is on its way to the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) countries. 

With the first batch shipped, the Kushaq becomes the first made-in-India Skoda and the third model based on the SAVWIPL group’s (SKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Private Limited) MQB-A0-IN platform to be exported from the country. It joins the VW Virtus and Taigun SUV as made-in-India exports, the latter being the first exported model of the lot. 

Skoda is on a road to renaissance, thanks to the India 2.0 project and MQB-A0-In platform, under which the brand has launched India-specific models – Kushaq and Slavia – which have undoubtedly been the driving force behind its sales.

It has helped the Czech marque enjoy its best innings in the country yet, with a 17% year-on-year increase in sales over September 2021, having 3,543 units delivered in September 2022. To top it off, the brand also recorded its highest ever sales between January and August 2022.

Skoda currently has five models in its portfolio spanning different segments -- the Slavia compact sedan, Kushaq compact SUV, D-segment sedans including the Octavia and Superb, and the Kodiaq SUV.
