Mahindra Is Set To Have A Couple Of Concept Reveals This 15th August In South Africa: Here’s What To Expect

Mahindra has been following a trend of late in which the carmaker divulges significant news on the day of India’s Independence Day, i.e., 15th August. Last time around, we got the roadmap for its future electric lineup and the trend will continue this time around as well, given that we already have a hint at what we have in store for us from its upcoming event in South Africa tomorrow.

So let’s take a look at what to expect from the indigenous carmaker, on the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day:

Electric Thar

Yes, Mahindra is electrifying the iconic Thar nameplate this Independence day. It is going to be dubbed as the Thar.e, and it is likely that it’ll be a concept first and a production model later (maybe). Information is sparse at the moment, but we reckon it should retain its off-roading credentials alongside the added benefit of instant power and torque from its electric powertrain.

Scorpio N-based Pickup Truck

This was actually the first product teaser that Mahindra dropped for its Independence day shenanigans. And what a way to kick it off! The teasers revealed a pickup truck concept, which could well be based on the Scorpio N SUV.

Envisage a rather rugged and boxy styling for the concept, along with modern elements as well, as hinted by the rectangular shaped taillights with cube-like elements within them. Mahindra has codenamed it the Z121 concept and it remains to be seen whether it’ll just be a design showcase or an under-work concept that’ll see the production line eventually. Until then, your tastebuds will have to settle with this teaser clip:

A Probable secret concept (s)

Given Mahindra’s tendency to drop an unknown concept out of the blue, especially on Independence Day, we won’t rule out another secret model or models to break cover this time around as well. It could be anything really, ICE or EV, but it is probably the latter which has more chances of happening. Who knows, Mahindra might just drop another teaser confirming the same before 15 August!
