For a premium of Rs 3.5 lakh over the base model, you get coloured bumpers, a 9-inch infotainment system, 17-inch alloy wheels and LED DRLs. The SUV can be specced in both 7- and 9-seater configurations.
Under the hood of the Scorpio Classic is the same 2.2-litre diesel engine as offered in the Thar but tuned to 132PS and 300Nm. The SUV is geared using a 6-speed manual transmission as Mahindra has held back on the automatic unit. The carmaker has also scrapped the 4WD and mechanical locking differential (MLD) options in order to make the Scorpio Classic a more affordable proposition.
As far as outright changes go, there isn’t much new on the Scorpio Classic. Design revisions are subtle with mild changes to the front fascia including a new grille, Mahindra’s twin peaks logo and a new bumper with LED DRLs. It gets new 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and the taillights are reminiscent of the design language of previous Scorpio iterations .
The theme of mild changes continues to run on the inside, with a black-and-beige hue theme with a leatherette wrap for the steering wheel. The 7-inch infotainment system gets replaced by a 9-inch unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay; other creature comforts include cruise control, auto AC with rear vents, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.
