Mahindra Thar 5-Door Mid-Spec Variant Spied Giving A Glimpse Of Its Cabin

With the internet being flooded with the spy-shots of the highly anticipated Mahindra Thar 5-door frequently, a lot of speculations have already been made regarding its looks and feature list. This time around though, we have come across what looks like a mid-spec trim of the Thar 5-door with some lesser features over the previously spied test mules. Before we get to see the production-spec version which is scheduled to debut on August 15, let's take a look at all that we could spot about the mid-spec variant of the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door. 

Dashboard and Central Console

From the spied images, the Mahindra Thar 5-door’s mid-spec variant is seen in a manual 4x4 avatar with an identical dashboard as that of the 3-door model and central console layout with automatic climate control. That said, the lower variants can miss-out on an automatic climate control setup and might rather get the regular unit.

Infotainment screen and driver’s display

What can be noticed is the mid-spec variant could retain the older 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system while the top-spec variants could get a larger unit. Also, you’ll get an analog setup for the driver’s instrument cluster instead of a fully digital driver’s display as on the top-spec. 

Rear Seat

The second row seats can be seen with the addition of a central armrest which is missing in the 3-door model. AC vents for the rear passengers can also be seen centrally positioned down below.

Sunroof

As per the spied images of this mid-spec variant, it will get a single-pane sunroof which adds up to the roominess considering the variant spied has all-black interiors.

Exterior

While the Thar 5-door seen here is completely camouflaged, it is prominent that the mid-spec variant will get a few niceties from the top-spec variants including redesigned alloy wheels. Further, a halogen setup for the headlamp units is seen while we couldn't spot any fog-lamps. 

If the Mahindra Thar 5-door is priced competitively, the feature upgrades and improvements will undoubtedly make the Thar 5-door a more appealing SUV. It will also be more upscale  than the present Mahindra Thar 3-door model. Anticipate a higher price than the Thar 3-door, which has an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 11.25 Lakh. While competing with the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door, it will be a bigger substitute for the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
