  • Mahindra Thar was launched in India on October 2, 2020.
  • The SUV is offered in two broad trims: AX Opt and LX.
  • Gets two engine options: 150PS 2-litre petrol and 130PS 2.2-litre diesel.
  • Both get 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic options.
  • Features include a 7-inch infotainment system, cruise control, and a multi-info display.

The Mahindra Thar has achieved a new milestone, booking over 75,000 units since its launch on October 2 last year. Of that total, the carmaker has dispatched 30,000 vehicles to customers. This is an impressive feat, considering the Thar is a lifestyle offroader.

We must add here that the 2021 Thar is much more lively on the tarmac than its predecessor.

Apparently, Mahindra says over 40 percent of the bookings were made by millennials. As many as 50 percent of the customers preferred the automatic variant, while 25 percent opted for the petrol variants. This has comfortably made the Thar the highest-selling four-wheel-drive vehicle in the country.

The Thar is available in two broad trims: AX Opt and LX. The offroader gets two engine options: 150PS 2-litre petrol and a 130PS 2.2-litre diesel, paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic options. Both get four-wheel drive and a low-range gearbox. In contrast, the Force Gurkha, its closest rival, is powered only by a diesel engine coupled to a manual transmission.
