Even though it is the base variant, it is loaded with convenience and safety features making it a good value proposition

The highly anticipated 5 door Mahindra Thar Roxx has entered the Indian automotive space with a bang, garnering a lot of interest and attention from the audience. The prices for the Thar Roxx currently range from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while Mahindra is yet to announce the prices of the four-wheel drive variants. Bookings for the Mahindra Thar Roxx are set to commence from October 3, with the deliveries starting from October 12. The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in six broad variants namely:  MX1, MX3, AX3L, MX5, AX5L, and AX7L. In this article, we give a detailed overview of the base MX1 variant.

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX1: Exterior Design

The front fascia of the Thar Roxx is of talking point as it gets refreshed styling with new design for the grille and bumpers. The MX1 variant misses out on the signature C-shaped LED DRLs, but gets LED projector headlamps and LED turn indicators. Fog-lamps are a miss in this variant, and the bumpers get an all-black treatment instead of the silver finished ones found in higher variants.

From the side, the main differentiating factor are the 18-inch steel wheels without any wheel covers as alloys are reserved for higher trims. You can spot a large Thar Roxx badging on the front fenders and side footsteps are standard from this variant.

Mahindra Thar Roxx MX1: Interior Layout And Features

The Thar Roxx gets a lighter coloured dual tone interior with white and black themed dashboard. While the design remains similar to the 3 door Thar models, the most prominent feature is the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, but with no connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

It gets an analog digital driver’s instrumentation with a digital MID and steering mounted controls. A premium sound system by Harman/Kardon is a miss, which is limited to higher trims only, and rather gets a basic four speaker system. Furthermore, instead of an automatic climate control unit, it gets a manual AC along with rear AC vents. Charging options include a 15W type-C charging port for rear passengers and 12 V power outlet.

Being a base model, it gets fabric seat upholstery in a darker theme, push button start/stop function, 60:40 split functionality for the rear seats, a height adjustable driver seat and height adjustable front seat belts. Unfortunately, this variant does not come with any sunroof option and niceties like ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, ADAS and digital driver’s display are reserved for higher variants..
