UPDATE: Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO from Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra has been teasing the XUV 3XO for a long time now and is all set to mark the entry of the updated XUV 300 (now called the XUV 3XO) tomorrow. It has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian roads and with the teaser campaign in full swing, we have a clear picture of what all it could pack within.
Though the complete design remains undisclosed, the teasers revealed key design elements of the XUV 3XO. These changes include a revamped front with a glossy black grille bordered by redesigned headlights resembling those on the XUV 700. Additionally, the teasers offered a sneak peek at its redesigned alloy wheels, while the rear showcases updates such as a connected wrap-around LED tail lamps and a revised tailgate with the 'XUV 3XO' badging.
Mahindra has also made changes to the interiors, which will resemble that of the XUV 400 EV. Taking cues from the EV counterpart, it will adopt a dashboard equipped with a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system along with a digital driver’s display. Notably, a teaser from Mahindra has also verified the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof, marking a first in its segment. Other design changes include the steering wheel which now gets gloss black elements instead of a silver finish.
As mentioned, the XUV 3XO will be tech-loaded, with the inclusion of a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with a premium 7-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system and Mahindra’s Adrenox system. It will get a fully digital 10.25-inch driver’s display and will come equipped with a dual-zone climate control unit. Keyless entry, push-button start/stop, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, and ADAS features are also expected.
In terms of safety equipment, 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, electronic stability control, 3-point seatbelts with reminder for all occupants, and ISOFIX child seat mounts are expected to be standard across all trims.

The XUV 3XO is anticipated to have the same engine options as its predecessor. These include a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 110 PS, a 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine producing 130 PS, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 117 PS. There will be the option of both automatic and a 6-speed manual transmissions to choose from, but according to the teaser videos, we could make out that it will make way for a torque converter automatic transmission instead of an AMT.
The upcoming model is set to inherit driving modes from its elder sibling, the XUV700, namely Zip, Zap, and Zoom. It boasts an acceleration from 0 to 60 kmph in 4.5 seconds (T-GDI turbo-petrol likely) and is expected to offer an impressive mileage of 20.1 kmpl (probably the diesel), as tested by Mahindra.
We anticipate a higher price tag over the outgoing XUV 300, which starts at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mahindra XUV 3XO will continue to compete in the sub-compact SUV segment, facing off against rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
