With any successful car launch comes the dreaded headache of really long waiting times. It’s no different with the new Mahindra XUV700, which has raked over 70,000 bookings, and has waiting times stretching into 2023!
We have now received clear confirmation of the trim-wise waiting periods for all the variants of the midsize SUV. Take a look:
Trims |
Petrol |
Diesel |
MX |
25 to 27 weeks |
35 to 37 weeks |
AX3 |
28 to 30 weeks |
50 to 52 weeks |
AX5 |

AX7 |
72 to 75 weeks |
72 to 75 weeks |
The base-spec MX commands the least waiting period, while you’ll be needing to wait till 2023 to get your hands on the top-spec AX7L.
You would have to wait for almost a year to get your hands on the AX3 Diesel, and AX5 diesel and petrol.
The MX and AX3 petrol, in contrast, command lesser waiting times.
Earlier, Mahindra said it is planning to deliver around 14,000 XUV700s by January 14, 2022. But with the ongoing semiconductor shortage and XUV700’s popularity, it’s quite clear that the SUV giant is struggling to hand over the vehicle. Also, diesel variants command higher waiting times as deliveries began a while after the petrol trims.
To know more about the XUV700, read our in-depth first drive review. Prices start from Rs 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India), putting it in contention with the Hyundai Creta/Alcazar, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Tata Harrier/Safari, and the MG Astor/Hector/Hector Plus.
