Grand Vitara black edition is on display at Auto Expo 2023.
Gets a sporty matte black exterior paintwork similar to the Kia Seltos X-Line.
The matte paint shade is limited to the show car for now.
Gloss black paint options are offered on the higher-spec trim levels.
Should be priced at a slight premium over the respective single-tone variants.
Maruti has taken the wraps off a new matte black-coloured Grand Vitara at Auto Expo 2023. For now, Maruti hasn't confirmed that the matte paint option will be launched in India, but the carmaker had previously announced a gloss-black colour for its Nexa lineup.
The (gloss) black edition is only offered on select variants of the Nexa models. In the Grand Vitara, the black-themed paint option is limited to the higher-spec Zeta and Zeta+ and top-spec Alpha and Alpha+ trim levels. These variants range in price from Rs 13.89 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
In the black edition, the changes are limited to the Pearl Midnight body colour and blacked-out alloy wheels, and the interiors and equipment list of the respective variants is unchanged. That said, Maruti is also providing a curated accessories package at a special price.
Apart from the Grand Vitara, the Ciaz, Baleno, Ignis and XL6 also get the black edition. The new paint option has been introduced as part of the carmaker’s 40th-anniversary celebrations.
Under the bonnet, the Grand Vitara gets a 103PS 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission and mild-hybrid system. The hybrid version gets a Toyota-sourced 1.5-litre petrol engine that, combined with the hybrid system, makes 116PS.
The Grand Vitara offers flagship-worthy equipment such as a heads-up display (HUD), six airbags, panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats.
