Maruti Jimny Has 31,000 Bookings So Far Split Almost Equally Between Manual And Automatic

According to the carmaker, the Maruti has received 31,000 bookings for the Jimny so far. Order books for the off-roader have been open since January 12. It hasn’t even been a month since the Jimny was launched in India and it already has a waiting period of around 7-8 months.

Around 150 people are still putting their name and money down for the Jimny on a daily basis. As per Maruti, the bookings split between the manual and automatic trims were equal before the launch, but it now seems like the manual variants are being preferred, although only by a slight margin. 

This shift post launch could be down to the prices of the automatic trims, which carry a premium of Rs 1.2 lakh over the corresponding manual variants. The full price list for the Jimny along with its powertrain details can be found here.

Maruti says it’ll be ramping up production in the coming days to meet the overwhelming demand and bring down the flaring waiting periods to more acceptable delivery timelines.The Maruti Jimny is offered in two broad trims, prices for which range between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom). It locks horns with the Force Gurkha and Mahindra Thar, both of which are currently offered in three-door iterations.
