Maruti Suzuki has expanded its base for the Jimny with the launch of the 5-door iteration of the off-roader in the Philippines recently. It is nearly the same car as the India-spec model, but gets different exterior colour options, a different driving orientation and a slightly detuned engine. Interestingly, the prices for it (after conversion) turn out to be significantly more than what it is sold for in India.
So here are four differences between the Philippines-spec and India-spec Jimny:
Just like in India, the Jimny is sold in two broad trims in the Philippines. Prices for them range between ₱15.58 lakh and Rs ₱17.08 lakh, which after conversion at the time of writing this report, comes out to be Rs 23.10 and Rs 25.33 lakh, respectively.

For reference, the Jimny retails between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. So the difference between the Philippines’ prices and India-spec prices is more than Rs 10 lakh.
While the overall design is still the same with its cute dimensions, upright panels, and heavily cladded bumpers and wheel arches, the Philippines-spec Jimny does get a revised colour palette. The bright and quirky kinetic yellow colour is gone, replaced by a chiffon ivory metallic hue. Also, the bluish black monotone shade offered here in India is substituted by a Jungle Green shade.
There are no changes to the cabin design, save from the obvious shifting of the steering wheel from the right to the left. Rest of the layout is identical, with the 9-inch touchscreen system taking centrestage in a cabin where focus on function is apparent. The circular AC control knobs are similar and look rugged, as does the passenger side dashboard with a dedicated grab handle.

Even the list of features is identical, with the aforementioned 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic AC, connected car tech, cruise control, keyless entry, and a multi-info display. Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, and electronic stability control.
However, unlike the India-spec model which gets six airbags as standard, the Philippines-Jimny only gets them in its top-spec trim.
The Philippines-spec Jimny gets the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, but it has been detuned to produce 102PS and 130Nm. The India-spec Jimny produces 105PS and 134Nm, for reference. The transmission options are the same: a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.

The 4-wheel drive system with a low range transfer case is offered as standard, and it uses its rear wheels for propulsion in non-off roading conditions. With this market launch, the Jimny is now being exported from India to Australia, South Africa and the Philippines. But note that the Philippines is the first market to get left hand drive as all the other markets till now have been right-hand drive countries. In India, the Jimny takes on the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
