Maruti Suzuki Rock N Road: Redefining the SUV Experience

Maruti Suzuki Maruti Rock N Road’s inaugural expedition, marked a significant milestone for the brand. ZigWheels had the honor of being part of this journey, which unfolded amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Spiti Valley. The expedition, a first-of-its-kind initiative by Maruti Suzuki, was the stepping stone for Rock N Road SUV Experiences, which aims to make SUV experiences more compelling for owners.

Rock N Road SUV Experiences

Tailored especially for Maruti Suzuki SUV owners, ROCK N ROAD embodies the C.O.R.E. philosophy, focusing on enabling Maruti Suzuki SUV owners to Conquer Terrains, Open Mindsets, Realize Passions, and Embark on Adventures. Introducing the three formats: 'ROCK N ROAD Expeditions' and 'ROCK N ROAD Weekenders', providing curated journeys for Maruti Suzuki SUV owners, and the 'ROCK N’ ROAD 4X4 Masters', a unique Off Road Championship with the Jimny, recognizing off-roading talent nationwide. This initiative aims to cultivate a spirit of adventure and exploration among Maruti Suzuki SUV owners.

The Week Long Expedition

The 1088 km journey commenced in Chandigarh, a bustling city nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, setting the stage for an epic adventure. From there, participants embarked on a captivating odyssey, tracing a path through some of the most enchanting landscapes in the region. The route led them through quaint towns, winding mountain roads, and rugged terrains, offering glimpses of nature's grandeur at every turn.

As the expedition progressed, participants found themselves immersed in a world of unparalleled beauty and exhilarating challenges. From the serene vistas of Narkanda to the ancient charm of Tabo, each destination unfolded like a chapter in a storybook, weaving together moments of awe and wonder. The trip also had moments that every participant will cherish for the rest of their lives thanks to the ingenuity of Team Maruti Suzuki. At a helipad surrounding by the breathtaking vistas of the mighty Himalayan peaks, the participants played a game of Musical Cars - just like musical chairs, but played with their cars, making it an experience like no other!

The journey culminated in Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley, where participants basked in the glory of their achievements and forged lasting memories before starting a descent back to Chandigarh.

The Breathtaking Experience

What can one say about this kind of an experience? For some, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it was a pleasure for us to become a part of it. The first day was hard for us, as we came from the heat of Pune to the chilling cold of Chandigarh. But this was just the start, and we knew that the temperatures would soon go down drastically as we embarked on the trip.

But we were prepared, and started our journey. The scenery, mountains, river beds, crystal clear skies, and roads felt divine. As we left the city behind and started getting closer to the Spiti Valley, we began to appreciate the beauty this part of the country has to offer.

However, this beauty doesn't come easy. We had to drive through narrow roads, take sharp turns, climb thousands of feets and drive through broken patches filled with loose sand and big rocks. All of this as the air got thinner, posing an additional challenge to man and machine. No car would have been better for this adventurous drive than the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, which managed to tackle every terrain without breaking a sweat, and kept us comfortable at the same time.

In the middle of nowhere in the Spiti Valley, we slowed down for a bit, and took a moment to look around. There was absolutely no artificial light around us. The dim orange glow from the instrument cluster of the Jimny felt like a campfire in the distance. Peering out of the window we were struck by the awe of a full moon night. It was -15°c, and a bright white moon lit up the sky like a massive flood light. The stars that shone idly, almost felt like there was one big concert in the sky - The Mother Nature opera!

After enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the Spiti Valley, and starting our descent back to Chandigarh, we began planning to come back here soon. And the one thing we were sure about, was that if we come back here, it would definitely be in a Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
