With just days to go before the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX electric concept breaks cover on January 3 2022, more details on the electric sedan have surfaced. This time, we’ve got a few snippets of its aerodynamics, and Mercedes has teased some nifty aero wizardry.
Earlier teasers have hinted at a sleek design and a distinct coupe-like roofline, suggesting a slippery aero philosophy for the electric sedan. The latest teaser now reveals how that philosophy was achieved, thanks to active aerodynamics. By this, we mean moveable parts to provide optimal aero efficiency depending on speeds. The carmaker claims there’s moveable aero on a variety of panels and the rear diffuser. There’s also a panel at the rear that can extend downwards and rearwards.
Other highlights of the Vision EQXX include a downward-sloping rear, swanky LED headlights, wing mirrors, and flush-fitting door handles. While we’re yet to have a look inside, it will likely drip opulence, feature some sort of autonomous driving tech, and utilise sustainable materials like upcycled plastic waste.
The electric concept’s party trick is its claimed range of up to 1000km. Additionally, Mercedes claims this will get the same battery as some of Mercedes’ current EVs. For reference, the EQS uses a 107.8kWh battery pack. Also, expect improved charging tech, better than the EQS’ 200kW fast charging.
Expect more details once the wraps come off. Shortly after that, the Vision EQXX will also be put on display at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, US.
