This will be the second time Mercedes-Maybach and fashion designer Virgil Abloh have collaborated

  • Likely to be a radical design considering how the Project Geländewagen revealed in September 2020 turned out.

  • Should get all the opulence famous in Mercedes-Maybach models.

  • Range could be somewhere around the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept SUV’s 600km mark.

  • Likely to be a one-off model, but should give clues on a Mercedes-Maybach of the future.

It was just last month that we had the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept SUV break cover at the 2021 IAA show in Germany. Now the opulent division of Mercedes-Benz is preparing to debut another new Maybach concept on December 1, 2021. Called Project Maybach, it’ll be an electric showcar.

Mercedes-Maybach has co-developed this concept car with fashion designer Virgil Abloh. This isn’t the first collaboration between the two, as in September 2020 they managed to reimagine the G-Class off-roader into a cool motorsport-inspired project called the Project Geländewagen. And if we’re going by how manic that design was, things are looking good for the Project Maybach concept.

Details are scarce, but we expect the concept to be a flood of opulence in true Mercedes-Maybach fashion. Expect the most premium materials in the cabin, along with nifty creature comforts for the seats.

Aside from it being an all-electric model, technical details of the concept electric show car are yet to be revealed. If the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept SUV can claim a range of 600km according to the WLTP cycle, then we should expect something similar for the upcoming model.

Considering how the Project Geländewagen turned out, we think Project Maybach will also be a one-off design that’s unlikely to reach production. But it could provide clues on what a future Maybach model would look like in the next three to five years.
