MG Gloster Storm Edition Unveiling Tomorrow

• MG Gloster to get a Storm special edition.
• Will feature a new beige theme along with blacked-out accents.
• Will likely be based on the top-spec Savvy trim.

MG India has dropped a teaser video on social media hinting at a new special edition for its flagship SUV, the Gloster. Recently MG also celebrated its 100-year anniversary by introducing “100 Year Editions” for the rest of the line-up, which the Gloster didn't get. The Gloster is soon expected to get a mid-life makeover, but before that, the automaker has decided to introduce this special edition. 

Just like the Gloster Blackstorm Edition which got cosmetic changes in a blacked-out theme with contrasting sporty red accents, the teased video showcases the Gloster covered in sand, thus, could be coined as “Desert Storm '' edition. Furthermore, it hints upon cosmetic changes like a new beige theme along with blacked-out elements across the vehicle.

On the inside, this special edition could get black and beige leatherette upholstery and the special edition’s badging on the headrest. This being a special edition, is likely to be based on the top-spec Savvy trim without any further addition to its features list. Although, all the niceties like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated driver’s seat, auto tailgate, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a digital driver’s display, will be a part of it. The top-spec Gloster also features ADAS Level 2 suite with functions like lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and a 360 degree camera.

The MG Gloster is available in two powertrain options. The all-wheel-drive variants are  powered by a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission producing 215 PS and 478 Nm. It also gets a rear-wheel-drive setup with a 2-litre diesel engine producing 161 PS and 373 Nm, also mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.   

The MG Gloster Storm will command a slight price increment over the standard Gloster which retails from Rs. 38.79 lakh - 43.86 lakh (ex-showroom). Its competitors in the segment are SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Meridian.
