Skoda is a brand that has made a name for itself in India for bringing performance to the masses in a rather understated way. They don’t shout PERFORMANCE. But time and time again, the carmaker manages to squeeze some decent punch into a package that’s also practical and relatively affordable, spawning a few ‘sleeper’ examples in the process.
Luckily, we’ve had the chance to test their real-world performance. So in this story, we bring you a compiled list of the quickest cars from the Czech carmaker that we’ve tested .
Whenever there is an RS badge attached to a Skoda, you know the car means business. That business is going fast; really fast – as we found out for ourselves when we tested the Octavia RS245. With 245 PS and 370 Nm on disposal, courtesy of a 2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine, the sprint from 0-100 kmph is done in just 6.20 seconds. All of that is accompanied by a few pops and bangs and you can read all about our experience behind its wheel in this review piece.
The 180 PS and 250 Nm output from a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine is good enough for the second spot in this list, which is grabbed by the 2017 Octavia. The 7-speed DSG transmission helps deliver that power swiftly to the front wheels, while its plush ride keeps the occupants inside comfy at all times. There were other powertrain options available with the 2017 Octavia, including a diesel, and you can read about their driving experience here.
On the face of it, the Skoda Superb is a car that you’d like to spend more time in the back, than behind the wheel. But the 2020 Superb came with a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine dishing out 190 PS and 320 Nm, nudging you to get rid of the chauffeur and drive it yourself from time to time.
Despite being tested in the wet, the Superb managed to clock a 0-100 kmph time of just 8.33 seconds, helping it round off the podium places in this list. Fast forward to today, the sedan has received a generational makeover, which gets multiple hybrid powertrains and you can read about the new Superb here.
As things stand, Skoda doesn’t have the Octavia and neither the Superb on sale in India (blame emission norms). Thankfully, there is still one sedan in the form of the Slavia that is carrying forward the baton and keeping it well and alive with its exciting performance and comfortable ride.
Its 150PS/250 Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit paired with the 6-speed manual takes just 9 seconds to hit the 100 kmph mark from standstill. That time is good enough to grab the fourth spot in our list of the quickest Skodas ever tested. For reference, the Slavia took 9.32 seconds with the DSG (dual clutch) automatic transmission.
The Skoda Kushaq and Slavia share the same underpinning and powertrain options. As a result, the 0-100 kmph time of the Kushaq 1.5-litre turbo-petrol MT variant is just 0.25 seconds off the time of the Slavia, which took 9 seconds. The automatic variant of the Kushaq recorded the sprint in 9.38 seconds when tested in wet conditions. We’ve jotted down a 16-point list of things you should know about the Kushaq, and you can read about it here.

Deceptively quick, huh? That’s just what Skoda does! That said, we are still waiting on the latest iteration of the Octy RS that was confirmed for India back in January 2023. Let us know if you were surprised to see any of these Skoda cars on this list.
