Dacia has unveiled the new-gen Spring EV hatchback globally, which previews the next generation Kwid for our market. It features a major overhaul in exterior and interior compared to the model sold in India and gets plenty of safety upgrades as well. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Design

The next-gen Dacia Spring EV (Kwid) looks significantly different from the current model. Gone are the chunky-looking headlight housings, replaced by sleeker ones. Additionally, it showcases an elegant-looking grille that merges onto the Y-shaped LED DRLs, reminiscent of the 2025 Duster.

Coming to the profile, you'll notice it resembles the current Kwid but features a slightly tweaked overall silhouette with updated 15-inch steel wheels. The rear profile is where significant design updates are evident. It's highlighted by a chunky plastic trim featuring 'Dacia' badging. Additionally, there's a revised bumper and updated LED taillights that complement the hatchback's rugged design.

Moving on to the interior, the 2025 Kwid features a minimalist cabin, highlighted by the new 10-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system. The overall cabin sports an black theme with contrasting white and grey plastic elements seen throughout. It gets new rotary dials for HVAC controls and boasts semi-leatherette upholstery which you can expect on higher-specced variants when it comes to India.

Apart from the new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the 2025 Kwid comes equipped with a 7-inch digital driver’s display, connected car tech, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, power windows, steering-mounted controls, Type-C USB charging ports, cruise control and 12V power socket. The Kwid EV also boasts vehicle-to-load charging.

Safety features include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, reverse camera with parking sensors, and select ADAS features such as lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition.

Powertrain Options

Globally, the Kwid is exclusively available in an all-electric version. It features a 26.8 kWh battery pack and offers the choice between a 45 PS or 65 PS electric motor variant. Both options claim a WLTP range of around 220 km (under certification). In India, we expect Renault to offer the 2025 Kwid with current 68 PS 1-litre naturally aspirated engine, alongside introducing it in an all-electric form after the ICE version is introduced.

Expected India Launch

Expect Renault to launch the Kwid on our shores sometime in 2025 in its ICE form first, with expected pricing starting from Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue its rivalry with the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. While details on the Kwid EV are scarce, once launched, it will offer an alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3.
