New-gen Honda Amaze teased for the first time
This will be the third generation for the nameplate
Gets an aggressive nose with sharper headlights and revised bumper
Likely to get an updated interior design with new features
Expected to continue with its existing 1.2-litre NA petrol engine
Reveal likely to happen before end of 2024
The sub-4m sedan segment is back in business with two big names getting generational updates. While we have already seen the new-gen Maruti Dzire without any drapes, Honda has now teased the new-gen Amaze for the first time ever. The last generational makeover for the Amaze happened in 2018, and it hasn’t received any significant updates since then. But all of that is about to change with this third-generational avatar, which is likely to give the Amaze a thorough makeover. You can expect a reveal before the end of this year, while it could be launched in January 2025. Here’s what you can expect:
The teaser only reveals the front of the new-gen Amaze, and that too is a design sketch and not a picture of the actual production-ready car. But going by that render, the new-gen Amaze is bound to have a much sharper nose compared to the outgoing model.
From what we can decipher, it seems to get a similar grille design to the new Accord that is sold in markets abroad. The headlights are sleeker and sharper with an LED DRL above the two brick-like LED headlight elements. The bumper, while barely visible, seems to get gaping air dams flanking the name plate, likely giving it a rather aggressive look.
There aren’t any teasers or even spy shots for the side and rear profile, but we expect updates there as well in the form of new alloys, and a revised design for the tail lights and bumper. All we can say is that given that this is a new-gen model, expect a significant departure from the current model in terms of not just the exterior design but also the cabin layout.
While the details are pretty much non-existent at the moment, we do expect a revised dashboard layout comprising new features and technology. It should continue to get a dual tone theme, while the creature comfort part should include a decently sized (around 9-inch) infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, auto AC, electric ORVMs, a semi-digital driver’s display, auto IRVM, cruise control, a wireless phone charger and keyless entry.
Honda could also take this opportunity to offer a sunroof – a feature which has already been spotted in its upcoming rival, the new Maruti Dzire.
As for the safety kit, the top variant should boast features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, a rear parking camera with sensors and ISOFIX mounts.
While there is no official chatter on this front as well, it is likely that the upcoming Amaze could retain its existing 90PS/110Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine.
Transmission options should carry on as it as, and could include either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT.
With this generational update, we expect Honda to bump up the prices for the Amaze, which currently swing between Rs 7.20 lakh and Rs 9.96 lakh (ex-showroom).
Rivals will remain unchanged, as it’ll fend off competition from the upcoming Maruti Dzire and the existing Hyundai Aura.
