If you are not someone who’s living under a rock, the news of the new Honda Amaze arriving next month won’t likely be new to you. Ahead of its launch on December 4, Honda revealed a teaser showcasing the design sketches of the upcoming Amaze’s interior.
The teaser revealed a cabin design similar to that of the larger Elevate compact SUV, and apart from the dashboard design and layout, we also expect the upcoming Amaze to get these 8 features from the Elevate.
Here is a look at the 10 features:
The Amaze currently gets a 7-inch infotainment unit and we expect it to get at least an 8-inch unit that is available with the mid-spec variants of the Elevate, if not the bigger 10.25-inch system. The Elevate’s system will bring in wireless connectivity for Apple carplay and Android Auto which will be a more convenient alternative to the wired connectivity offered with the current generation of Amaze.
As hinted by the latest teaser, Honda is likely to offer the Elevate’s semi-digital driver’s display with the new Amaze. At present, the Amaze gets analogue dials with a multi-information display. The semi-digitized cluster will not just add a premium touch but also provide more information and controls to the driver.
A feature that has gotten a lot of love over the past few years, the sunroof is something that automakers are now offering even with their entry-level cars. With Amaze’s chief rival, the Maruti Dzire getting this premium feature, there is a high possibility that the Amaze could also be offered with it. If it does, it will be a single-pane sunroof, similar to the Elevate.
Both Elevate and City get this feature as standard, while the current Amaze gets it as an accessory that needs to be purchased separately. However, this could change as we expect Honda to offer this convenience feature with the higher-spec variants of the new Amaze.
With safety protocols getting stricter, carmakers have started to offer 6 airbags as standard fitment on all new vehicles. We are 99.999 percent confident that Honda will be launching this safety feature as standard. The current-gen model of the Amaze gets 6 airbags, but not with all variants.
With the new Dzire scoring a 5 star rating in the Global NCAP safety crash test, Honda will push the new Amaze to be as safe as its Maruti rival.
The mid-spec variant of the Elevate comes with 6 speakers (4 speakers plus 2 tweeters) and we expect the top-spec Amaze to also get 6 speakers. Currently, the Amaze only has a 4 speaker setup with all its variants. The addition of extra speakers will surely boost the sound output and provide a better experience to all those who love listening to music while driving.
Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS, brings in a bunch of active driver aids including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and blind spot detection. The Elevate gets this feature with its top-spec variant and the Amaze’s design sketch has already hinted at the presence of a lane-keep assist inside the sub-4m sedan. If equipped with ADAS, we expect it to boast the same set of features onboard the Elevate’s ADAS kit.
Lane watch camera is a feature Honda first introduced with the 10th generation Honda Civic in India, and was later available with the 5th-gen City as well as the Elevate. This feature helps the driver get a proper view of the cars incoming from the left (passenger) side and eliminates the chances of a vehicle being in the blind spot. We expect Honda to introduce this feature on the new Amaze as well!
Rear AC vents was a feature that felt like a big miss on the outgoing Amaze. This feature is offered on the Elevate and will most likely be available with the upcoming Amaze as well. It helps in keeping the second row cool and make the rear passengers less dependent on the front AC vents.
Electronic Stability Control or ESC is a safety feature that was absent on the Amaze, but will most probably be available with the new one, likely as a standard fitment. The Elevate also gets this necessary feature, right from the base-spec variant itself. This feature prevents the vehicle from skidding under low grip conditions, and gives the driver more control over corners and during hard braking.
Out of these 10 features, which one did you like the most? Let us know in the comments below.
Considering the fact that the new Dzire was launched with plenty of features, there are high chances that the Amaze will get all these 8 features making it a worthy competitor to the Maruti rival.
The new Honda Amaze’s prices will be out on December 4, where we expect it to carry a premium over the outgoing model, which is priced from Rs 7.19 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the new Maruti Dzire, Tata Tigor, and Hyundai Aura. For more details about the upcoming Honda Amaze, head over to our story.
