In India, the Honda WR-V is an ageing subcompact SUV model that’s set to be discontinued soon. However, its replacement, the 2022 WR-V, has been unveiled for the Indonesian market and might be offered in India in the future.
Here’s a closer look at the SUV in ten images.
At the front, the WR-V bears some resemblance to the India-spec Amaze, but features more premium touches such as a sportier chrome front grille and skid plate. It also has LED fog lights, sequential turn indicators and 17-inch wheels.
The WR-V is built on the Amaze’s platform, unlike its predecessor that had shared underpinnings with the Honda Jazz. While the older model looked like a hatchback on stilts, the new WR-V’s design is more SUV-like with its large windows, straight body lines and upright front-end styling.
At the rear, the SUV features sharp-looking split taillights with LED light bar elements.
Inside, the WR-V’s gets a stylish cabin with comfy-looking leather seats that get adjustable headrests front and rear.
The dashboard closely resembles the Amaze’s dashboard but features premium touches such as contrast-coloured trim pieces, new climate control switchgear and stitching on the passenger side dashboard panel.
The WR-V has a seven-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, paired with a six-speaker sound system. Similar to the India-spec City, the WR-V gets a lane watch camera that displays the left-side camera feed on the touchscreen when you turn on the left indicator.
Other safety features include a multi-angle reversing camera, six airbags, hill start assist and ESC.
Notably, the Indonesia-spec WR-V gets Honda Sensing, the carmaker’s driver assistance suite that’s offered in the City hybrid in India. It gets features such as forward-collision prevention with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, auto high beam assist and adaptive cruise control.
The WR-V is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that makes 121PS and 145Nm. It’s paired with a single CVT automatic gearbox. In contrast, the India-spec WR-V only gets the 1.2-litre petrol engine that also powers the Amaze.

New Honda SUV To Arrive In India Before October 2023, Currently In Final Stages Of Development
We’d love to see the Honda WR-V make a comeback to India, given its premium features, powerful engines and strong safety suite. However, the carmaker hasn’t announced any such plans. Instead, a compact-sized SUV is on the cards for our country that’s expected to be revealed after mid-2023.
