As 2022 comes to a close, carmakers are correcting the prices of their respective lineups in India, and effective January 2023, the new costs will come into effect. This is done to accommodate the effects of inflation and other factors that increase input costs related to car manufacturing in the country.
The following carmakers have already announced a cost increment come January 2023 and more auto firms are expected to follow suit:
India’s largest carmaker, Maruti, has announced a forthcoming hike in prices, adding that the price increase will vary from model to model. The January prices and offers are yet to be announced, so keep an eye on our news section.
Korean carmaker Kia will also increase prices in January, but it hasn’t announced the exact model-wise pricing yet. Tentatively, you’ll have to pay a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the December 2022 prices. If you have booked a Kia already, you’ll still have to pay the hiked price if your car is set to be delivered after December 31. The carmaker will also send a written intimation to customers affected by this hike.
Get ready to shell out a bit more for Renault cars next month. The carmaker has officially announced a hike, but is yet to reveal the revised ex-showroom prices of its lineup, which consists of the Triber MPV, Kiger subcompact SUV and Kwid compact hatchback.
The French carmaker will increase prices by one and a half to two per cent from next month. This should make the C3 hatchback pricier by up to Rs 15,000. The C5 Aircross, on the other hand, is expected to get a steeper Rs 73,000 increase.
Luxury cars are set to get dearer in January 2023, too. Audi’s lineup will see an increase of up to 1.7 per cent in prices. It comprises the A4, A5, A6 and A8 L sedans; Q3, Q5, Q7 and Q8 SUVs, and e-tron and e-tron GT EVs.
One of the most sought-after German luxury marques in India, Mercedes, will substantially increase the prices of its cars by up to five per cent. This translates to a minimum increase of Rs 1.5 lakh, going all the way up to Rs 7 lakh for the Maybach S-Class.
Bear in mind, the price hike will come into effect from January 1, 2023. Until then, December 2022 prices and offers apply on the existing stock, depending on its availability.
