It is powered by the naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12
The roadster takes inspiration from the 1955 Ferrari 410 S.
It is finished in a special Rosso Passionate shade with various updates to styling.
Ferrari has not revealed any technical details or the supercar’s price.
With an on-road price tag of Rs 6.6 crore, the Ferrari 812 GTS is for the top one per cent. But, what if the standard 812 GTS doesn’t tickle your fancy? It seems like someone out there went through the same thought process, and made some calls to Maranello along with a request and a blank cheque. Hence, lives the SP51, which is a one-off based on the 812 GTS’ mechanicals with a bespoke body and customisation.
Finished in a special Rosso Passionale shade (Read: Red) the SP51 also features a special blue and white pinstripe livery that harks back to the 1955 Ferrari 410 S. Unlike other Ferrari one-offs, the SP51 has a relatively simple bodywork and looks more or less like an 812 GTS with a special kit. The headlights are new and the roadster also gets a sportier front and rear bumper designer with an aggressive diffuser setup.
Whereas the 812 GTS is a convertible with an electric roof, the SP51 is an outright roadster with no retractable roof. Since an indefinite amount of paper money was involved, Ferrari went through the pain of simulating the roof design and even took this one-off to a wind tunnel to make sure everything works well.
The stripe theme is also carried on to the cabin which features the same between the seats that are finished in bright red Alcantara. In case the lucky owner forgets, there is a plaque which literally reads ‘SP51 one-off one’ between the seats.
Ferrari has not mentioned any changes underneath the car. Since it is pretty much the 812 Superfast/GTS underneath, you get the screaming 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 that develops 800PS and 718Nm of twist. Ferrari claims a 0-100kmph sprint time of under three seconds for the GTS and we can expect more or less the same along with the 340kmph top speed.
