1.35 million USD equals Rs 11.07 crore after conversion. That’s how much the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 driven by Paul Walker in the Fast & Furious 4 movie sold for in a record-breaking auction held by Bonhams.
This very car started its life in Japan and was stripped off its engine and brought to the US by Kaizo Industries, which made use of a loophole and imported it as a ‘kit car’. It was then reassembled and modified according to Paul Walker’s directions. Being a man of taste indeed, he got rid of all the vinyls and stickers of the car, and let the clean flowing lines of the car do their thing.
Fun fact: This car was actually the one and only true R34 to feature in the film. All the rest were non-turbo, base-spec models.
In stock condition, the 2.6-litre twin-turbo straight six petrol engine of the Skyline R34 GT-R, paired to a six-speed manual makes 276PS. But in typical Fast & Furious fashion, this one is anything but stock and has a plethora of modifications made to it, including Nismo lowering springs, Momo Sport Alcantara steering wheel, Nismo NE-1 exhaust system, an uprated intercooler and many more.

Before being made available for the auction, this particular car spent time resting behind the glass at the Motorworld in Munich. There are multiple reasons why this particular model broke every previous record for the sale of a Skyline GT-R. The R34 iteration of the Skyline GT-R is already the most sought after Skyline derivative that there is. Add the fact that this car has been specced tastefully by none other than Paul Walker himself and then driven by him in the Fast and Furious franchise makes the classic Japanese icon all the more alluring.
And while a lot of people take the mickey out of the series for the absurdly unhinged driving sequences, deep down, we all know it's a work of fiction and hence should appreciate the extravagant bombastic marvel that every Fast & Furious movie offers. Because they won’t be around forever, even though it might seem like they already have been. And oh, the latest one, which is the 10th iteration, will hit the theaters next week on May 19.
