We created a poll to find out if you liked the new “Thar ROXX” name for the upcoming Thar 5-door.
878 people participated in the poll, out of which 62 percent voted yes.
The Thar ROXX will make its India debut on August 15, 2024.
It will get features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, panoramic sunroof and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display
Expected to be priced from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), and rival the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha 5-door.
Mahindra finally revealed the name of the upcoming 5-door version of the Thar, which will be called the “Thar ROXX”. The elongated off-roader will be making its India debut on August 15, and there has been a lot of buzz created around it, especially after the new name was announced.
The name given to the upcoming Thar 5-door had mixed reactions from the Indian audience, so we decided to conduct a poll on our instagram page to find out whether or not you have liked the name. Here are the results:
A total of 878 respondents took part in the poll, out of which 543 participants voted ‘Yes’ in favor of the new name. Meanwhile, 335 voters selected ‘No’.
Even though the majority of voters like the name, the difference is not a lot. This indicates that the Indian carmaker has not quite nailed it with the new name, and there are still many who think that the name should’ve been something else. In fact, Mahindra trademarked a bunch of different names a while ago for the off-roader, details of which can be found here.
The upcoming Thar ROXX will be a more premium offering over the smaller Thar, with plenty of new features and a more premium cabin. Being a 5-door version, it boasts a longer wheelbase, which should open up more space. As seen in the recent teaser, it gets a more macho grille, dual-tone alloys and new LED headlights and tail lamps, which gives the Tharr ROXX its own identity. To know more about its design, you can check out our story.
Its interior and features have not been revealed yet, but previous spy shots have shown niceties such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and keyless entry with push button start. Dual-zone climate control and wireless phone charger are expected to be part of the features list as well.
Its safety kit will likely include ADAS features, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.
The Mahindra Thar ROXX will come with both petrol and diesel engines from the smaller Thar, including a 132 PS 2.2-litre diesel and a 150 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, but with more power. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic transmission. It will be available in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive options.
We expect Mahindra to price the upcoming Thar ROXX from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Force Gurkha 5-door, while being a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
