Ahead of the implementation of the upcoming BS VI phase 2 emission norms in April 2023, Renault has updated its entire model lineup with engines that are compliant with the new regulations. There are also additional safety features for all, while the Kwid even gets a new entry-level variant.
The entire Renault range now gets additional standard safety features such as electronic stability programme (ESP), hill start assist, traction control, and tyre pressure monitoring system. These will be offered alongside other safety equipment like dual airbags, while the higher variants of the Kiger and Triber also get side airbags and a rear view camera.
Renault has updated all the engines of the Kwid, Kiger and Triber making them compliant with the upcoming BS VI phase-2 emission standards. No changes have been made to the engine options of the Kiger and Triber, and their respective outputs. Changes in the Kwid's powertrain options have been jotted down later in the article.
All three cars get a 1-litre naturally aspirated unit, while Kiger also gets a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine option. All engines are geared using either a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox, while the Kiger’s turbo-petrol unit also gets a CVT.

Moreover, all the cars are now equipped with a self-diagnosing kit, which will constantly scan the vehicle’s emission levels along with examining other critical emission levels.
The Renault Kwid’s variant lineup has received a new entry-level RXE variant which is paired with its 1-litre petrol-MT powertrain. It has been priced at the same quantum (Rs 4.69 lakh) as the 0.8-litre petrol-MT engine in the RXL trim that it replaces as Renault has axed the engine from the hatchback's lineup altogether. The Kwid’s prices top out at Rs six lakh (ex-showroom) for the Climber AMT variant.

With these updates for both the engine and the safety kit, you would expect a bump in the prices for all the Renault models; however, the carmaker had just recently hiked the prices for its entire range by up to Rs 14,300 in January, hence there will be no price hike this time
