Maruti Suzuki’s version of the Toyota Innova Hycross has been confirmed to be called the ‘Invicto’. It’s slated for a global debut on July 5 and could be launched the same day as well, as reports suggest a launch in July itself. Thanks to leaked images, we have already got a clear look at the Invicto, which will be the most premium and expensive Maruti Suzuki to go on sale in the Indian market.

The Invicto will be the first Toyota model to be rebadged as a Maruti Suzuki in India. Production already seems to be underway and the leaked images have given us a fair idea of its design. The Invicto will get a Grand Vitara-like front grille, a tweaked bumper, and dual-tone alloys instead of the Hycross’ monotone units.

Fun Fact: Invicto means unbeaten

On the inside, the overall design should be similar to the Hycross. However, you can expect minor changes made to the colour scheme and upholstery to set it apart from its Toyota counterpart. Also, no changes would be made to the features list and that means the Invicto will get a handful of new features that will debut in a Maruti car.

These include tri-zone climate control, powered driver’s seat, ADAS, a powered tailgate and semi-powered captain seats with ottomans (for middle row occupants). Other kit on board should include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof.

No changes are expected underneath the hood. That means the Invicto should get the Innova Hycross’ 176PS 2-litre petrol and 186PS 2-litre strong-hybrid powertrains, paired to a CVT and an e-CVT respectively. To know how these powertrains fare on the performance and fuel efficiency fronts, check out this report. The Invicto should be priced about the same as the Innova Hycross, which currently retails between Rs 18.55 lakh and Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from locking horns with its Toyota sibling, it will be an alternative to models such as the Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo, and even the Toyota Innova Crysta.
