Hyderabad’s Kukatpalli gets its first showroom
Massive space of 1000 sq. ft to showcase the River Indie, accessories and merchandise
River announced entry into more cities: Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Ahmedabad and more
River, a Bangaluru-based EV start-up, announced the opening of its first showroom in Kukatpally, Hyderabad. This showroom is opened in collaboration with Sri Rajarajeshwara EV Mobility. It has a massive space of 1000 sq ft, showcasing its electric scooter, the Indie, and its accessories as well as official merchandise. The showroom functions as a ‘one-stop shop’ for an exclusive experience of its products and also to deliver its scooters to customers. The decor of the showroom showcases the brand’s ethos and aesthetic of rivers.
River currently has only one electric scooter to offer, the Indie. It is known as the ‘SUV of Scooters’ and is an electric scooter with a rugged design and funky colour palette. The electric scooter is priced at Rs 1,38,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore). It has a 4kWh battery pack providing an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 161km and takes around 5 hours to charge up from 0 to 80% using the standard charger. It has three riding modes to choose from: Eco, Ride, and Rush. Eco mode gives the highest range and a low top speed while the Rush mode gives the lowest range and highest top speed. It is available in three attractive colourways: Summer Red, Monsoon Blue and Spring Yellow.
The River Indie is humble when it comes to what tech it is equipped with. It has a 6-colour digital LCD instrument cluster that displays speed, battery level, range, riding mode, two trip metres, an odometer, and more information. It misses out on the Bluetooth feature. The company provides an optional bolt-on mobile phone holder that can be mounted on the handlebar.
It outshines its rivals in the utility department, with a 43-litre underseat storage which can easily hold two helmets, a 12-litre lockable glove box with a USB charger and a massive flat floor bed. If you feel like you’ll need more storage, the company offers optional accessories like a 25-litre top box, 40-litre pannier boxes, and a detachable floor cage. With all of these accessories installed on the scooter, you probably won’t need movers & packers to move your house. The Indie has more utility features like a pair of rider footpegs, crash bars integrated into the apron, saddle stays, raised handlebars, hazard lights, and a side-stand motor cut-off function.
Earlier this year, the start-up got funding of Rs 335 crore, which they plan to invest in expanding its network in the country and adding more products to its catalogue. The new River showroom in Hyderabad is a promising step ahead for the company. They have also announced their entry into more cities like Chennai, Kochi, Coimbatore, Trivandrum, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur, in the next few months and reach 50+ cities in India by the end of 2024.
