Not a week goes by without Royal Enfield getting caught testing a new bike and this week has been kickstarted with the sighting of the Scram 650. This isn’t the first time the upcoming bike has been spied on. However, these are surely the clearest images yet.
The most interesting bit about this test mule is that it features a side bracket with an external (extra) indicator. Now, this could be testing equipment for vibrations rather than an accessory indicator, as the bracket sticks out quite a bit, thereby increasing the width of the bike.
In terms of appearance, the Scram 650 adopts quite the scrambler design language and follows Enfield’s signature styling. A teardrop fuel tank, high-rise handlebar, spoke wheels and triangular side panels (although it is likely the final bike might get circular number plate holder side panels) add to the scrambler fancy.
It will be powered by the marque’s 648cc, air-/oil-cooled, parallel twin heart making 47PS and 52Nm. However, unlike its siblings, this bike gets a two-into-one exhaust setup.
Expect the Scram 650 to debut by late 2024 and it could be priced at Rs 3.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Its closest rival would be the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 6 ½ Scrambler in our market.
