Simple Energy has launched its second offering called the Simple Dot One. The electric scooter is based on the Simple One and is a more affordable version of the EV maker’s flagship scooter.
What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
The Simple Dot One has been launched with an introductory price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Bangalore). This introductory price is for customers from Bangalore who had pre-booked the Simple One but want a more affordable alternative. The EV maker says that the final launch price will be revealed in January 2024 (probably with a premium of Rs 10,000 - 15,000). Bookings are now open for the Dot One and deliveries will first start in Bangalore (timeline not specified by the manufacturer) and then in other cities in a phased manner.
As a more affordable alternative to the Simple One, the Dot One’s rivals are the more affordable options from other EV makers like the Ola S1 X, Ather 450S, TVS iQube Electric and Bajaj Chetak.
What’s New?
The Simple Dot One is based on the Simple One and it looks very similar too. But it does get various changes underneath. Here are the highlights:
- 3.7kWh capacity battery (the Simple One gets a 5kWh capacity battery)
- Claimed 151km IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range (the Simple One gets a claimed 212km range)

- 0-80% Charging Speed (with the fast charger) - 1.5km/min
- 8.5kW peak power output from the motor (4.5kW continuous output)
- Torque: 72Nm
- Claimed Top Speed: 105kmph, same as that of the Simple One
- 0-40kmph in 2.77 seconds
- Riding modes: Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic along with a Reverse mode
- 200mm front disc brake with triple-piston caliper and 190mm rear disc brake with single-piston caliper
- Telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup
- All-LED lighting
- Seat Height: 796mm, Wheelbase: 1,335mm, Kerb Weight: 126kg
- Boot Space Capacity: 35 litres (Simple One gets 30 litres underseat storage)
- Bluetooth connectivity with navigation
- 7-inch TFT touchscreen instrument console
The Simple Dot One gets six colour options: Namma Red, Brazen Black, Azure Blue, Grace White, BrazenX and LightX. The scooter, motor and the battery comes with a warranty of 3 years or 30,000km and the charger comes with a warranty of 1 year or 10,000km.
ZigSays
Affordable, feature-packed electric scooters are gaining momentum as they help in garnering a wider, more budget-conscious customer group. However, the timing of Simple One’s new launch doesn’t seem all that ideal considering the brand is yet to begin full-fledged delivery operations of the Simple One, an electric scooter that was ‘launched’ way back in August 2021, and then again, in May 2023, that too with quite a few changes. We’ll have to wait and see how Simple manages the demand-and-supply equation for the Dot One.
