The EV maker is offering an 8 year/60,000 kilometres on both the battery and the motor

Quick News Highlights:

- Simple Energy has announced two warranty programs that offer an 8 year/60,000 kilometres warranty

- The Simple Protect programme covers the battery

- The Simple Super Protect covers both the battery and the motor

Simple Energy has announced two battery warranty programs for its electric scooters: Simple Protect and Simple Super Protect. The Simple Protect program covers the battery while the Simple Super Protect covers both the battery and the motor. Also, the programs include an 8-year or 60,000 kilometres warranty on the motor and the battery.

Currently, Simple Energy’s lineup consists of the Simple One and the Simple Dot One. The Simple One gets a 5kWh capacity battery pack with a claimed range of 212km and a 8.5kW peak power output motor with a top speed of 105kmph. It has a telescopic fork and a monoshock and stopping the scooter is a disc brake at both ends. The electric scooter gets a 7-inch TFT instrument console, all-LED lighting, USB charging port and a 30 litre underseat storage space.

The Simple Dot One gets a 3.7kWh capacity battery pack with a claimed range of 151km. The motor has a peak power output of 8.5kW and claimed top speed of 105kmph (same as the One). It has a telescopic fork and a monoshock suspension setup. In terms of features, the scooter gets a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation and three riding modes: Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic along with a Reverse mode.

The announcement of the extended warranty programs is a positive move from the EV maker but the Bangalore-based manufacturer is yet to deliver any of its scooters to the customers. The Simple One was first launched in August 2021 and then relaunched in May 2023. The Simple Dot One was launched in December 2023. But Simple Energy hasn’t been able to deliver a single unit of any of the two models till date despite the bookings being open for quite a while now. Unless the EV maker manages to sort out this particular issue, offering different schemes and warranty programs are not going to affect the brand’s positioning amongst its potential customer base.
