Today, Skoda India has announced its future plans for our market and it’s no less than exciting. As part of its upcoming plan, the Czech carmaker will introduce a new sub-4 metre SUV by March 2025, and it has confirmed the launch of the Enyaq iV and even showcased a special edition of its compact SUV.
Here’s everything you need to know:
The biggest announcement is Skoda confirming it will be foraying into the extremely popular sub-4 metre SUV segment in India by March 2025. The upcoming model, yet to be named, has been teased for the first time. By the looks of it, we can discern the presence of the carmaker’s butterfly grille and a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs. Also, the bonnet has muscular creases, a design touch we have seen in the Kushaq.

The upcoming model will likely be based on the same MQB-A0 IN platform, adapted to size, that underpins the Kushaq and Slavia. You can read more details about the upcoming Skoda sub-4 metre SUV here.
Skoda has also shortlisted a handful of names and will run a poll to choose the final one that will be christened for the upcoming Tata Nexon rival. These include:
Skoda Kylaq
Skoda Kariq
Skoda Kymaq
Skoda Kyroq
Skoda Kwiq
Apart from that, the Czech carmaker also said 10 best user suggested names will be taken into consideration and a poll will be run to choose the final one.

Skoda will be foraying into the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the introduction of the Enyaq iV later in 2024. The all-electric SUV will be brought as a fully imported model, so one can expect it to be priced around the Rs 65 lakh mark, pitching it as a Kia EV6 rival. The Czech carmaker has been testing the SUV in India for a while now and even displayed it at the Bharat Mobility expo. You can check out more details about the Skoda Enyaq iV here.
Skoda India also showcased the Kushaq Explorer Concept at the event. The model had off-road specific design tweaks such as chunky all-terrain tyres wrapped around 5-spoke blacked-out rims, a roof rack and many chrome bits have been blacked out. It’s finished in a matte green hue with contrasting orange elements. This model you see here is based on the 1.5-litre TSI variant of the compact SUV.
Skoda shared that 50 percent of the models manufactured outside the Czech Republic are manufactured in India, highlighting the country’s potential as a global export hub. Apart from that, with new models lined up for our shore, the Czech carmaker is targeting a market share of five percent in India by 2030.
