The Skoda Kylaq has been launched on our shores at an attractive starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the entry-level subcompact SUV in Skodas’s India lineup and is positioned below the larger Kushaq. It is underpinned by the MQB AO IN platform, which is the same platform that houses the Kushaq and Slavia. Its bookings will begin from December 2, 2024 and the delivery will commence from January 27, 2025.
If you are in the market for a subcompact SUV, then you might want to check out the Kylaq’s details:
The Skoda Kylaq has been launched with certain design elements that make it stand out from the larger Kushaq, however, its silhouette does make it look like a baby Kushaq. Its fascia gets a split headlight setup consisting of sleek-looking DRLs placed above the main headlamps. It gets a familiar-looking butterfly grille which is blacked-out.
The Kylaq sports 17-inch alloy wheels (16-inch with lower variants). You get chrome door handles, body cladding and roof rails that accentuate its SUV stance. Here is a detailed look at its dimensions:

The rear sports wraparound LED tail lights, a shark fin antenna and a roof-mounted spoiler. The SKODA lettering on the tailgate is finished in chrome and you also get a rear wiper with washer and a defogger. Adding bulk to the overall look is a chunky looking silver skid pate.
The dashboard design and layout is similar to that of the Kushaq, with the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking the centre stage. But unlike the Kushaq, the Kylaq gets a dualtone black and grey cabin theme. There's also a two-spoke steering wheel for a sportier appeal. The borders of the AC vents are finished in chrome.
In terms of features, you get a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, keyless entry and a sunroof.
Safety is taken care of by 6 airbags as standard fitment, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-hold assist and a reverse parking camera with sensors.
The Kylaq is powered by a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes up to 115 PS and 178 Nm. The engine can be coupled with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque-converter transmission.
The Skoda Kylaq’s prices start from Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Full prices could be out at its public display at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo on January 15. It competes with subcompact SUVs like the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
