Skoda recently revealed the Kylaq on our shores at an attractive starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). It is Skoda’s first ever subcompact SUV and will be available in 5 exterior shades and four variants: Classic, Signature, Signature+ And Prestige. In this report, we take a look at how the interior changes right from the base-spec Classic variant all the way up to the top-spec Prestige variant:
Kicking things off with the base-spec variant, the Classic trim is for those who want a basic interior with almost no feel-good features inside! It comes with a dualtone black and beige treatment and black-colour fabric seat upholstery. The Classic variant gets the same sporty-looking two-spoke steering wheel as the other variants, but misses out on the piano black elements and Silver inserts. It also doesn’t get any infotainment or music system, for which buyers will have to rely on aftermarket options. Right from the base variant, the front passengers get a centre armrest.
The equipment list is pretty basic here with manual AC, rear AC vents, all four power windows, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, headrests for all passengers, three-point seatbelts, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Out of the four variants on offer, the Signature trim is the lower mid-spec variant in the Kylaq’s lineup and is the variant where things start making sense in terms of equipment. The most important thing is that you now get a basic infotainment unit (likely 7-inch) with this variant, for which you also get controls on the steering wheel. The steering wheel now gets piano black elements, while the fabric seats get a dual-tone shade with patterns on the centre part. You also get two USB-charging ports at the front and een-eyed observers would also notice that the door handles also get a design with this variant.
In terms of equipment, this variant adds wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear defogger, and speakers (likely 6).
Moving up the ladder, we have the Signature+ variant which sits below the top-spec variant. From this variant onwards, you start getting a more premium overall experience! The infotainment unit gets larger and the analogue dials change into a fully digital driver’s display. Adding a premium touch is the middle portion of the dashboard which gets a lighter shade matching the dual tone theme.
The door handles get a chrome finish and the dualtone shade and pattern of the fabric seats change slightly in comparison to the Signature variant. This variant also adds a centre armrest for the rear seats and the steering wheel can also be seen with some chrome elements, which add to the look of the cabin.
In terms of features, this variant adds automatic climate control, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, cruise control, reverse parking camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and reading lights for the rear passengers.
The top-spec Prestige variant brings in more premium equipment which completes the overall package of the SUV. Firstly, the Prestige variant offers leatherette seat upholstery and additional chrome inserts thereby adding a premium touch to the cabin. The dual tone theme also gets a contrasting trim insert on the dashboard and door pads.
Feature additions for the top-spec variant include a single-pane sunroof, auto dimming IRVM, ventilated front seats, and powered driver and co-driver seats.
The Kylaq also gets a wireless phone charger and keyless entry, but we are not sure which variant brings in these features. For that, we will be doing a detailed story on the Kylaq’s variant-wise features in the near future, so stay tuned for that! For more information about the Kylaq, head over to our story.
