Skoda recently revealed the Kylaq subcompact SUV on our shores with a well-equipped cabin comprising a good mix of necessary and premium features that won’t leave you asking for more. Even though its equipment list packs everything that one would need, there are still some features that its competitors offer over it! In this article, we take you through the 7 such features that the Tata Nexon gets over the Kylaq:
Do note that some of the features are not extras but are just larger in size or their quantity, thereby making them more desirable.
Everyone loves a good audio system and having more speakers surely gives an advantage in having a better sound output in most cases. In the case of the Nexon, it is offered with a 9-speaker JBL sound system, while the Kylaq is likely to get a total of 6 speakers at max. To accentuate your experience, the Nexon’s audio system also gets a subwoofer as part of the 9 speakers.
In the Tata Nexon, you get a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, while the Kylaq features an 8-inch unit. The Nexon’s driver display can also be portrayed as a navigation display which ensures that the driver does not need to shift focus towards the infotainment unit. That being said, both displays provide you with all the necessary controls and functions.
Not really a significant difference, but the Nexon’s 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit is slightly bigger than the Kyalq’s 10-inch system. Both get wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
After the Mahindra XUV 3XO introduced a panoramic sunroof in the subcompact SUV segment, Tata updated the Nexon as well with this desirable feature! The Kylaq on the other hand gets a single-pane sunroof with its top-spec Prestige variant. The Nexon also gets a single-pane sunroof with its mid-spec variants.
The 360-degree camera is a feature that helps you while parking and also when you are driving in tight spaces. The Nexon gets this safety feature over the Kylaq which only gets a reverse parking camera.
The Nexon is offered with an air purifier which helps to circulate cleaner air around the cabin. The air purifier of the Nexon also comes with dust sensors, which helps remove impurities from the cabin. The Kylaq does not get this feature.
Both subcompact SUVs come with reverse parking sensors, but the Nexon additionally packs front parking sensors. This feature is very useful when you need exact judgment of the car’s front bumper while parking or even in bumper to bumper traffic.
Plenty of accidents happen when you miss out on another vehicle’s presence while changing lanes and that’s exactly where the blind spot monitor comes in handy. This feature is available with the Nexon, and it gives you a display of the cars arriving from behind on your screen.
If you turn on the left indicator, you get a view of the vehicles coming from the left side and the same for the other side. The Kylaq misses out on this safety feature.
While both subcompact SUVs are offered with plenty of colour options, the Nexon can also be had with dualtone colours. The dualtone shades give a nice contrast to the SUV, and also helps it stand out! To check out Kylaq's colour options, head over to our story.
Full prices of the Skoda Kylaq will be out on December 2, 2024, but we know that its prices start from an attractive Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexon on the other hand is priced from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Both cars rival other subcompact SUVs like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza and the Mahindra XUV 3XO.
