Skoda Slavia Test Drives Start From TODAY

• Slavia prices to be announced on February 28 (for the 1-litre TSI variants) and March 3 (1.5-litre TSI).
• Deliveries will commence immediately after launch.
• Slavia to come in three trims: Active, Ambition, and Style.
• Will get 1-litre and 1.5-litre TSI engines, paired with MT and AT.
• Prices expected to start from Rs 10.5 lakh.

Want to get a good feel of the Skoda Slavia before signing the dotted line? Good news then, as Skoda has commenced test drives of the sedan ahead of its launch on February 28 (1-litre TSI variants) and March 3 (1.5-litre TSI). Also, deliveries will commence right after the price announcements of the respective variants, unlike the Kushaq, deliveries of which began a few weeks after launch. 

The Slavia will be the second Skoda (after the Kushaq) to be based on the Volkswagen Group’s localised MQB-A0-IN platform. Like the SUV, the Honda City challenger will come in three trims: Active, Ambition, and Style. The 1-litre TSI is standard across the range, while the 1.5-litre TSI engine is limited to the top-spec Style.

Now to the specifications. The 1-litre TSI develops 115PS and 250Nm, while the 1.5-litre TSI (with cylinder deactivation tech) belts out a class-leading 150PS and 250Nm. A 6-speed manual comes as standard, while the automatic options include a 6-speed torque converter (1-litre TSI) and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (1.5-litre TSI).

In terms of features, the Slavia will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof, ambient lighting, a digital driver’s display, and an 8-speaker sound system with subwoofer. 

Passenger safety is taken care of by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and tyre pressure monitoring. 

Prices of the Slavia are expected to start from Rs 10.5 lakh, and it’ll rival the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus.
