Skoda has taken wraps off the new-generation Kodiaq at the Auto Expo 2025 ahead of its launch by the first half of 2025. The second-gen Kodiaq was first revealed globally in 2023 and has now finally arrived in India. The flagship 7-seater SUV gets an updated exterior design and revamped interior with plentiful features. Here is a detailed look at the new Kodiaq:

Design

The new Skoda Kodiaq gets an upgraded fascia, featuring a larger “Butterfly” grille, and a sleeker design for the LED headlights. The lower section of the bumper has been reworked and you also get fog lamps placed below the LED headlights. The front look has been made sharper and more stylish now.

In profile, there are minimal changes making the new one look similar to the outgoing model. The alloy wheel design is new here and the window line tapers upwards as it moves towards the rear.

The rear of the SUV sports a new design for LED tail lamps which get a “C” motif. The shark fin antenna and roof-mounted spoiler add a sporty vibe to the rear. The bumper has also been tweaked a bit and you get the typical “SKODA” lettering at the back.

Interior And Features

Step inside and you will feel the premiumness of the cabin! The new Kodiaq features a completely upgraded cabin featuring a new design and layout for the dashboard, consisting of a large infotainment system which takes centre stage. You now get more storage space in the lower centre console as the gear selector has been shifted to the steering column.

The good news is that the physical buttons have not been ditched and are placed below the AC vents, which can be used to operate multiple features of the vehicle. Overall, it's a place that would provide you with utmost comfort and you would want to spend time in.

The new Kodiaq brings in a larger 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. You also get a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, ventilated and heated front seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, a branded sound system, and a powered tailgate.

In terms of safety, it comes equipped with 9 airbags, a suite of ADAS features, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system and front and rear parking sensors.

Powertrain

Here’s a look at the engine specifications of the new Kodiaq:

We suspect the India-spec version to get the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that powers all four wheels. However, the same engine now churns out 204 PS, which is a 14 PS increase from before.

Price And Rivals

The new Kodiaq is expected to retail from Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). It will give a more fierce competition to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and MG Gloster.
