2-door Force Gurkha pickup truck spied testing
Seems to be based on the longer 5-door Gurkha
Front gets the same styling as standard Gurkha, same alloys too
Flat bed seems more commercial-oriented than for private use
No confirmation on any launch plans yet
The Force Gurkha had made a name for itself amongst the paparazzi community for the myriad of test mules that kept getting papped from time to time. But now that the 5-door Gurkha has already been launched, this latest spy shot is rather different. Meet the 2-door Gurkha pickup truck, which seems to be a more focused, commercial-version of the 5-door Gurkha pickup truck, which was spotted on a previous occasion.
A quick look at the picture reveals that the cockpit part of the vehicle is the same. So the front half of the pickup truck right till the front doors is familiarly Gurkha with its squarish elements, chunky wheel arches, and the signature snorkel. The wheels too are the same as the updated 2024 Gurkha, and it's the second half of the car where the unfamiliarity kicks in.
In contrast to the flat bed seen on the spied 5-door Gurkha that seemed more flush and production ready, this one seems more like the one we are used to seeing on commercial vehicles. But what’s unusual is the fact that the bed is way too high than it usually is, suggesting that it might not be intended for production purposes. Becausing loading/unloading stuff from the bed will either need a humungousaur or some sort of machinery, and that’s not an inconvenience anyone would want from their pickup truck.

Now we can’t actually say what this test mule is for, or whether it is even a test mule or just a test bed for Force. But we can’t help but wonder how capable this truck would be with the Gurkha’s formidable off-roading capabilities. The SUV’s 140PS 2.6-liter diesel engine, paired to a proper four-wheel drivetrain give it proper off-roading credentials. It would be the ideal hauling vehicle in remote areas whereas natural disasters struck more often than not.

We know that Force will be bringing different seating layouts for the already launched Gurkha 5-door SUV. But there is no news on any pickup truck avatar making its way to the market anytime soon. The Gurkha in its three door avatar is sold at Rs 16.75 lakh, and in its 5-door avatar is sold at Rs 18 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The standard 5-door Gurkha rivals the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and will compete with the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door. If we get a pickup truck version, it’ll go up against the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the Indian market.
