CONFIRMED! The Suzuki Jimny 5-door’s next launch market is Australia and the larger SUV has been teased there via the carmaker’s official website. It will be one of the first markets where both the three- and five-door versions of the Jimny will be on the shelves together. So if you want something cool, you have the three-door while the five-door focusses on practically.

The Jimny 5-door for the Australian market will be exported from the carmaker’s plant in India. So you can expect the SUV sold there to be very similar to the one we get here. Main differences between the two SUVs are in the dimensions front, which have been detailed below:

Jimny Three-door

Jimny Five-door

Length (mm)

3645mm

3985mm (+ 340mm)

Width (mm)

1645mm

1645mm

Height (mm)

1725mm

1720mm (- 5mm)

Wheelbase (mm)

2250mm

2590mm (+340mm)

In terms of styling, the five-door Jimny looks almost identical to the three-door model, except for its elongated length, and the slightly different finish to the grille. Even on the inside, the dashboard layout and design is the same between the two. However, the five-door SUV gets a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the smaller 7-inch unit seen on the three-door model. One thing that’s common between both Jimnys is the engine. Both get a 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine specced with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic. And regardless of the transmission, four-wheel drive with low range is standard for improved off-roading performance.
