Images of the facelifted MG Hector have been leaked once again, giving us a clean good look at the production model’s exterior. The facelifted SUV could be revealed in India on December 20 and the updated model might be limited to the higher trims only. The latest update brings a cosmetic refresh inside and out as well as plenty of feature additions.
Thanks to an UK-based wrapping company, Herts Tints And Wraps, we now have a good look at the facelifted Hector ahead of its debut. The most prominent change is the presence of an even larger and angular grille with diamond-shaped chrome elements. Thanks to the reprofiled grille taking more real estate, the front bumper has been redesigned as well.
In contrast, there’s absolutely no change made to the side profile. At the rear, the tailgate has been redesigned and features softer lines than before. The red strip connecting the tail lamps now has grooves in its design and could be illuminated. Plus, there is a chrome strip above the number plate housing which runs through the width of the car, making the SUV look wider than it actually is.
The interior is where the crust of the changes lie as the Hector now gets a fully revamped dashboard with silver highlights and streaks of ambient lighting. Taking centre stage is an even larger 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s touted to get even more connected features.
Speaking of which, another big addition to the facelifted Hector will be ADAS, similar to the Astor. Other features such as panoramic sunroof, an Infinity sound system, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat and keyless entry with push button start will also be present. Safety should be taken care of by up to six airbags, electronic stability control and a 360-degree camera.
No changes are expected underneath the hood. The facelifted Hector should continue with the existing 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (mild-hybrid optional) and 170PS 2-litre Fiat-sourced diesel engine. A six-speed manual is standard, while the turbo-petrol engine can be specced with a CVT too. In Indonesia, the Hector also gets the option of a strong-hybrid powertrain as well.
You might need to shell out a few extra bucks for the facelifted Hector that is currently priced from Rs 14.43 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with compact SUVs such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos as well as midsize SUVs like Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV700.
