Tata has officially announced that the Curvv and Curvv EV will be revealed on July 19, 2024. While a launch date isn’t confirmed just yet, we know the Curvv EV will launch first, followed by its ICE counterpart.
Ahead of the reveal, some Tata dealerships have opened bookings for the SUV coupe, and you can book yours by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. But before you go ahead and put your name down for the Curvv or Curvv EV, here are 5 things that you should know about them:
The Curvv (ICE and EV) gets an SUV-coupe body style, which makes it stand out from other SUVs in the segment. Many design elements are expected to be borrowed from other Tata models such as the Nexon, Harrier and Safari. Some of these include sleek looking LED headlights, connected DRLs and LED tail lamps. Overall, its sporty appearance and unique styling will make it an eye-catching SUV on our Indian roads.
The electric version of the Curvv is expected to get minor EV-specific tweaks over the ICE version. These design changes will likely include a closed grille, tweaked bumpers and a different design for the alloy wheels.
One thing for sure is that with the unique bodystyle of the Curvv and Curvv EV, your car will stand out from the rest of conventionally styled compact SUVs.
The Curvv is expected to get a feature-rich cabin, with equipment borrowed from other premium Tata SUVs like the Nexon, Harrier and Safari. The design should be similar to what we’ve seen on the Nexon and the cabin will be dominated by a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the centre. It is expected to get a two-spoke steering wheel housing the backlit 'Tata' emblem (as seen on new Tata cars) and a touch-sensitive climate control panel in the middle

Recent teasers also showcased a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, sourced from the Nexon. Furthermore, paddle shifters and a rotary dial drive model selector were teased, indicating that the Curvv EV could get multiple regenerative braking and driving modes such as Eco, City and Sport.

If the new Nexon, Harrier and Safari are anything to go by, you can expect a minimalistic yet modern cabin with plenty of premium touches and themes.
Apart from the aforementioned features, the Curvv will be offered with many more niceties and comforts. The expected features include: a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, a dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a branded audio system, rear AC vents, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof and multi-colour ambient lighting.
The safety features should include six airbags as standard across all variants, along with ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, hill hold and hill start assist, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system and suite of ADAS features.
The Curvv EV could also offer EV-specific features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, which effectively turns the car into a portable power bank, which can be used to charge your appliances and even other EVs if needed.
With these expected features and safety equipment, the Curvv and Curvv EV are expected to be one of the most loaded offerings in their respective segments.
Most offerings in the compact SUV space offer multiple powertrains and the Curvv is going to be no different.
The ICE powered Curvv will offer two engines: a new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo petrol engine producing 125 PS and 225 Nm and a Nexon-sourced 1.5-litre turbo diesel unit which makes 115 PS and 260 Nm. Both petrol and diesel engines will be offered with a standard 6-speed manual transmission and the option of an automatic. The petrol variants will get a dual-clutch transmission, while the automatic option with the diesel engine is yet to be confirmed.
The Curvv EV too will likely get multiple options with at least 2 different battery packs, with an expected claimed range of up to 500km.
The Curvv EV will be launched first, and is likely to be priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against the MG ZS EV, lower variants of the BYD Atto 3 and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
The ICE model on the other hand, is expected to be priced from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will directly rival the upcoming Citroen Basalt, and also lock horns with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Honda Elevate, and the Skoda Kushaq.
