Tata Curvv SUV showcased in near production-ready form with small design updates.
1.5-litre diesel engine with 6-speed MT confirmed alongside the new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Design details seem to be inspired by the facelifted Nexon EV SUV
Launch expected by the end of 2024.
The Tata Curvv SUV has been a real tease with a myriad spy shots popping up time and time again. Now, the anticipation for the SUV has been elevated even further with the newly revealed Tata Curvv diesel at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. The model showcased looks really close to a production-ready guise and there could be slight changes to the design details here and there. So the Curvv SUV’s powertrain options will include a diesel, petrol and an electric motor. Here are more details on the updated Tata Curvv concept on display:
As the Tata Curvv inches closer to its market entry, the design details are all coming together. Similarities with the Nexon are apparent with the connected LED DRL that spans the width of the bonnet. The main headlights sit below it, flanking the bumpers.
The closed upper grille gets slim horizontal inserts that follow the lower air dams, finished off by a silver skid plate at the bottom. The profile reveals the Curvv’s most distinguishing feature - the coupe-like roofline that flows smoothly towards the rear. Assuming that this is more or less the final design, the Curvv SUV will pack another segment-first party trick - flush door handles! The rake of the car also becomes apparent here as the rear sits higher than the front end (without any load).
The rear, meanwhile, looks rather upright and sober, with the only modern element coming in the form of the horizontal taillight bar spanning the width of the boot. The bumper gets a few angular elements defining the contours, which is finished with a silver skid plate at the bottom.
The cabin of the Tata Curvv will be similar to what we’ve seen on newer Tata models, like the Nexon facelift. The images reveal a minimalist dashboard design, dominated by a conventionally large touchscreen. There will be touch-sensitive AC controls, while the steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo is the one seen on the Harrier and Safari.
In terms of features, it should get everything that the Nexon and Nexon EV pack, so top features could include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a fully digital 10.25-inch driver's display, a 360-degree camera system, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, keyless entry, and push-button start. The safety kit should include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
We were aware that the Curvv would be getting Tata’s all-new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo petrol engine which develops 125 PS and 225 Nm. But Tata has now revealed that a 115 PS and 260 Nm 1.5-litre diesel engine will also be offered with the Curvv SUV. Unfortunately, only a 6-speed manual has been confirmed for the diesel as of now and there is no mention of an automatic.

The petrol engine, on the other hand, is expected to get either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The electric Curvv EV will also be sold alongside these ICE powertrains.
We expect the Tata Curvv SUV to launch by the end of 2024. It could be priced from around the Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, and will offer an SUV-coupe alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, and Skoda Kushaq.
