The Tata Punch micro SUV, ever since its inception in October 2021, has been very successful in the Indian market. Today, the Indian marque has rolled out three lakh units of the Punch, a feat that has been achieved a bit over two years after its inception. The Punch is Tata’s micro SUV, priced from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
The Punch’s one lakh production milestone was achieved in August 2022, or about 10 months of its inception. And the two lakh mark came up in May 2023, around one and a half years after the model’s launch. The third lakh was the quickest, with the Punch bagging this milestone in just eight months since its last achievement.
This development is great for the Tata Punch, considering it now has stiff competition from the Hyundai Exter, which is having a successful outing as well. Over the months, Tata introduced various special editions of the micro SUV such as the Camo and Kaziranga edition. It also plonked in new features like a sunroof and wireless phone charger.

And the updates made to the micro SUV since its introduction doesn’t stop there. Tata introduced a CNG variant back in 2023 for those looking for a Punch with lower running costs. It packs the carmaker’s innovative twin-cylinder technology, meaning you have a CNG car with a usable boot.
And Tata isn’t going to stop there with this popular nameplate. Soon, the carmaker will be introducing the Punch EV, which will get styling differentiators and new features as well. These updates will inspire the facelift for the ICE model as well down the road. For more details about the upcoming Tata Punch EV, click this link.
The Tata Punch locks horns with the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Suzuki Ignis, while being an SUV alternative to cars like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Maruti Suzuki Swift.
