The KTM 790 Duke has made a comeback internationally as the Austrian manufacturer has unveiled the 2024 edition model. The ‘Scalpel’ gets two new grey and orange colour options and the graphics on the fuel tank and rear panel have also gotten a revision.
The rest of the bike has remained unchained mechanically from the previous model. It is powered by a 799cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine producing 104.7PS and 87Nm and comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Suspension duties are taken care of by a 43mm WP open cartridge upside-down (USD) fork and a gas-charged WP Apex monoshock with preload adjustability. The streetfighter gets dual 300mm disc brakes at the front with four-piston radial calipers and a 240mm disc brake at the rear with a single-piston floating caliper with dual-channel ABS.
Features-wise, the 790 Duke gets a TFT instrument console and comes equipped with four ride modes: Sport, Street, Rain and Track along with a Supermoto mode. Other riding aids on the Scalpel include traction control, wheelie control and cornering ABS.
The KTM 790 Duke has always been an absolute hooligan bike and a more affordable option compared to the manic 890 Duke. It was discontinued for a short while and now KTM has brought it back. So, those looking to buy a middleweight streetfighter and find the 890 Duke a bit expensive, then snatching up the 790 Duke now will be a good option.
