The Toyota Innova Crysta has been brought back to life once again post the launch of its successor, the Innova Hycross. The second-generation Innova comes back with a revised ‘face’ and a diesel-MT powertrain. Prices have not been announced yet, but pre-launch bookings are open for a token of Rs 50,000, and the MPV comes in four trims: G, GX, VX and ZX.

This will be the second facelift for the Innova Crysta since its inception in the Indian market and it’s evident that design changes are at the front. For its latest iteration, the Innova Crysta gets a new, squarer grille that is flanked by the same pair of headlamps, while the bumper also receives a dash of chrome for added bling. Otherwise, the MPV’s exterior design is pretty much similar to the outgoing model.

Considering the minor exterior refresh, the interior of the Innova Crysta is similar to the outgoing car as well. It continues to come either as a seven-seater with captain seats or an eight-seater with a bench seat for middle row occupants.
Even its features list remains largely unchanged, which includes an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, eight-way powered driver seat, ambient lighting and keyless entry with button start.
Passenger safety is taken care of by up to seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, and hill-start assist.

Where things have changed is underneath the hood. Post the launch of the Innova Hycross, the Crysta will only be offered with the 150PS, 2.4-litre diesel engine, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual ‘box. The 2.7-litre petrol engine has been discontinued, and if you want an Innova with petrol power, your option is limited to the Innova Hycross, which gets petrol-only and hybrid powertrains.
Prices of the mildly revised Innova Crysta are expected to see a mild increase over the outgoing model that was priced from Rs 19.13 lakh (diesel variants, ex-showroom). It will be available for both private and fleet buyers, and the relatively affordable alternatives to it are the Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo.
