We are just within touching distance for the launch of the new generation Hyundai Verna and before the covers come off the new sedan on March 21, the marque has disclosed everything you need to know about the safety features it’ll come with. Without further ado, here’s what the new Verna’s safety package looks like:
That’s the motto of Hyundai with the new generation Verna and it is clearly expressed via its safety suite, which boasts a plethora of features as standard. Here’s a list of the chief standard features you need to know about:
Six airbags (driver, passenger, side & curtain)
All 3-point seatbelts (all seats)
Seat belt reminder (all seats)
Speed-sensing auto door lock
Impact-sensing auto door unlock
ABS with EBD
Emergency stop signal (ESS)
Follow me home headlamps
Auto-headlamps
ISOFIX child anchorages
Lane change indicator
Burglar alarm
Rear defogger
Keyless entry
Rear parking sensor
Now remember, these are just standard fitments. As you go up its variants list, the number of features will only increase, further including:
ESC (Electronic stability control) with VSM (Vehicle Stability Management)
Hill start assist control (HAC)
All disc brakes on four corners
EPB (electric parking brake)
Front parking sensors
Auto-dimming IRVM
Cornering lamps
TPMS
Hyundai SmartSense (ADAS)
The new Verna will be the second vehicle in its segment after the 2023 Honda City to feature ADAS functionality. It gets level-2 autonomy and includes features such as:
Forward collision warning
Lane keeping assist
Lane departure warning
Driver attention warning
Safe exit warning
Adaptive cruise control
Lane following assist
High beam assist
Leading vehicle departure alert
Rear cross-traffic collision warning
Rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist
This rounds up everything that makes up the new Verna’s safety kit. And as for its creature comforts, Hyundai has left no stone unturned in that area too, offering features like front ventilated and heated seats (the latter a segment first), eight-speaker Bose premium sound system, a 10.25-inch screen for the infotainment system, a Venue-like digital driver’s display, rear AC vents, and ambient lighting.
The upcoming Verna will also step up its game in terms of engine options. There won’t be any diesel option. Instead, the 115PS, 1.5-litre, NA petrol unit will be carried forward, alongside a new 160PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. Both these engines have been upgraded to meet RDE compliance and can run on E20 fuel (with 20 percent ethanol blend). The former will get six-speed MT and CVT options, while the turbo-petrol powertrain will send its power to the front wheels via either a six-speed MT or a seven-speed DCT.
