These Are The 10 Features Mahindra Thar Roxx Gets Over Maruti Suzuki Jimny

The new Thar Roxx is loaded to the brim with features make it more premium and appealing than the Maruti Suzuki Jimny

Up until now, off-roaders were not known for being loaded with features, especially the mass market ones. But, with the launch of the new Thar Roxx, Mahindra has been generous and brave enough to take the premium route and provide a bunch of niceties for its rugged off-roader. In this article, we have listed down the 10 features it gets over the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, which in itself is a fairly well-equipped SUV.

Sunroof

The Mahindra Thar Roxx gets a fan favorite panoramic sunroof with the top-spec variants, while its mid-spec variants get a single-pane sunroof. The Jimny does not offer a sunroof with any of its variants.

A Bigger 10.25-inch Touchscreen

The Thar Roxx gets a large 10.25-inch touchscreen compared to the Jimny’s smaller 9-inch unit. In terms of connectivity, both screens offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but the latter in the Thar Roxx will be added via an update.

Additionally, the Thar’s infotainment system is connected to a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, while the Jimny comes with only 4 speakers.

10.25-inch Digital Drivers Display

The Mahindra Thar Roxx gets a 10.25-inch digital drivers display which makes the cabin feel more modern and upmarket. The Jimny on the other hand, takes the more conventional approach by providing analogue duals with a multi-information display (MID). The Thar Roxx’s display also shows more information which means the driver won’t have to rely on the centre screen.

Wireless Phone Charger

A premium feature which is becoming common on modern day vehicles is the wireless phone charger. The Thar Roxx gets this feature, while in the Jimny you will have to rely on charging ports to top up your device.

Ventilated Front Seats

The Thar Roxx gets ventilated front seats which elevates the cabin comfort, especially during the hot summers that we get in India. The Jimny misses out on this feature.

Rear AC Vents

The elongated Mahindra Thar is not just about the off-roading capabilities, but is also about the rear seat experience. Mahindra has offered rear AC vents with it thereby increasing comfort and ensuring quick cooling for those sitting in the back. The Maruti off-roader does not come with rear AC vents which means occupants will solely have to rely on the front AC vents.

Powered Driver Seats

The Mahindra Thar Roxx gets a 6-way adjustable powered driver seat which makes finding your ideal driving position all the more easier. The Jimny, on the other hand, gets manual adjustment for the driver’s seat.

360-degree camera

The larger Thar Roxx gets a 360-degree camera along with front and rear parking sensors which come in handy not only while parking the SUV, but also during off-road trails. The Jimny is equipped with a reverse parking camera and rear parking sensors.

Electronic Parking Brake

The Jimny gets the conventional handbrake lever, while the Thar in its top-spec variants comes with an electronic parking brake with auto hold function. This feature adds to the convenience factor, especially during stop and go traffic conditions.

ADAS

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is offered with level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and lane departure warning and auto-emergency braking. The Jimny on the other hand, does not get these driver aids.

ADAS is not an essential feature so it's not a big miss on the Jimny, but it surely adds to the convenience and safety, especially over well-marked highways.

Maruti Jimny vs Mahindra Thar Roxx: Price

Everything comes at a price, and so do the features on the new Mahindra Thar Roxx, as it is the more expensive one out of the two. Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Jimny start from Rs 12.74 lakh and go up to  Rs 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mahindra Thar Roxx is priced from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the RWD variants. Prices for the Thar Roxx 4x4 variants are yet to be announced, but are expected to come at a notable premium.
