This Feature Of The Japanese 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift WILL NOT Make It To India

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is now available to buy in Japan, its home turf. The upcoming hatchback has been spotted testing on our shores ahead of its introduction in 2024. But an interesting point to note is that the Swift gets all-wheel-drive as an option in Japan. Here’s a closer look: 

For its latest iteration, the 2024 Swift gets a new 82 PS 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, teamed with a 12 V mild-hybrid system. This engine can be had with either a front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive setup in Japan. Fair enough, considering it snows there and the addition of AWD definitely helps over slippery terrain.

As for transmissions, the Japan-spec Swift can be had with either a 5-speed MT or a CVT. However, the specifications for India could change. We suspect it to be offered only with front-wheel-drive and the CVT could be ditched for an AMT to keep costs in check. More details about this will come to light closer to the Swift’s launch here. 

The new Swift still has a familiar silhouette, but gets many new design elements that make it look more modern and sporty. Even its interior is brand new and takes plenty of inspiration from Maruti’s new models such as the Fronx and Grand Vitara. It will also get plenty of new features, including ADAS.
