The new Vayve Eva to be showcased at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025
Bookings to open in January 2025
Claims to be India’s first solar-powered electric car
Offers a claimed range of 250 km and 50 km of range in 5 minutes of charging
Can accommodate two passengers, including the driver
Supports AC and DC charging
Vayve Mobility, an electric vehicle (EV) start-up, has announced that it will be showcasing its new all-electric, the Eva, at the forthcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which will be held between January 17 and 22. The Eva is being promoted as India’s first solar-powered vehicle, which claims to offer a solar-recharged range of 3,000 km annually. It was showcased at the Auto Expo in 2023, and we reckon this could be the production-ready model, considering that bookings are opening in January 2025.
The Eva is a teensy-weensy electric car or much like a quadricycle. It is similar to the Citroen Ami available in the international markets but is smaller than the MG Comet EV except length and wheelbase. Speaking of which, the Eva measures 3,060 mm in length, 1,150 mm in width, and 1,590 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,200 mm. Plus, the ground clearance stands at 170 mm.
The EV has a quirky exterior design and its body is narrower towards the rear. Inside, the Eva is a two-door electric car that can accommodate two passengers in a layout similar to the two-cockpit jet. Furthermore, the cabin comes with a two-spoke steering wheel, a dual-screen setup comprising a driver’s display and an infotainment system, and air conditioning. Additionally, there is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a glass roof, and 6-way powered driver’s seat. Then, it gets a single airbag for the driver.
Powering the Vayve Eva is a 14 kWh battery pack that has the IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. With this, the claimed range is rated at 250 km on a single charge. It is coupled to a single electric motor that sits at the back, making the Eva a rear-wheel drive car. This motor produces 8.15 PS and 40 Nm. It provides a top speed of 70 kmph and can go from 0 to 40 kmph in 5 seconds.
In terms of charging, the Eva supports both AC and DC standards. Using the 15A socket, it can be juiced up to 80 percent in 4 hours, while the CCS2 DC charger takes 45 minutes to complete 80 percent. In fact, the fast-charging capability claims to provide 50 km of range with 5 minutes of charging time.
The crux of the Eva is its solar roof that generates electricity using solar energy and claims to offer an additional range of 3,000 km yearly or 10 km every day.
The upcoming Eva is expected to go on sale in the Indian market shortly after its public appearance at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. In fact, Vayve will commence its bookings in January 2025. Currently, it does not have any direct rivals in the country but the closest competitor would be the MG Comet EV.
